Catching up with Emma

We catch up with Emma Newbould to find out how she is getting on with her accounts apprenticeship.

We were delighted when Emma joined us in October 2018 in the role of Accounts Assistant. It’s an apprenticeship role, so she goes to college one day a week to study for her AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Level 2 qualification. Her day to day job involves dealing with invoices, credits, payments and inputting anything from suppliers and customers onto the computer system in the office.

She isn’t only learning about accountancy, however, she says her role is varied and it’s one of the things she loves about working at Woofenden. She often answers the phone: “You never know what’s coming in and your next enquiry could be about anything”. She’s gaining wider experience of working in a busy family-run business.

Emma loves the fact that the main office is based in a small village: “It’s such a nice working environment with the river, the ducks and the animals. It’s lovely in Kentisbeare, where everyone knows one another and they’re really friendly”.

She will soon be helping Woofenden to take advantage of the trackers that have been installed on company vehicles. The aim will be to reduce petrol consumption, improve efficiency and encourage lift sharing where possible.

The current stage of her studies will come to a close in December, but she’ll progress to Level 3 in the New Year. We’re pleased to be able to support her and our other apprentices as they embark on their careers in the industry and we look forward to seeing Emma develop further in her role.
